NOSTALGIA: Bus Route 4

The 4 bus route can trace its roots to 1912, where it had a similar route as it has today (Elephant & Castle – Finsbury Park) Over the years it was cut off from Elephant & Castle to Waterloo, and extended from Finsbury Park to Archway, making it more of a dedicated North London bus.

This bus was contracted by First Buses in recent times, then being transferred to Metroline and being kept ever since. This route has been retained ever since, with Metroline opting to use older machines to power the 4 route along.

This is due to change, however, as the recent contract retention will see this roue being blessed with brand new buses from this month onwards.

This is a great bus if you’re a tourist, as it goes through a lot of great sites, including Archway Station, Holloway, Finsbury Park, St Pauls and Waterloo. It also goes past City Thameslink, which is a very nice place to visit as well.
